Ever have those days where you don’t want the world to look at you?
Do you secretly hope that you won’t run into anyone you know, because you look like it’s the middle of the night?
If puffy, tired eyes are exposing your drowsiness to the world, I understand why you may want to hide. You don’t have to anymore though, because you can easily have energetic-looking eyes with just a few easy tricks. After all, I don’t want you to walk through the airport with bags under your eyes, or hide at networking events because you don’t feel your very best.
Here’s how you can have energetic eyes, without puffiness:
~ Drink extra water. Look at whatever amount you’re drinking right now, and add 3 more glasses of water to it. Hydration will decrease puffiness around your eyes. Plus, water is an amazing tonic for many conditions in the body, like headaches and sluggish digestion.
~ Press a cold teabag underneath your eyes to reduce swelling. Tea bags are the one drink supply I can find in nearly every hotel, cafe, hostel, and home that I travel to. They are everywhere! Black teas contain tannins, which help to tighten skin, and reduce puffiness and swelling. Briefly soak a tea bag in cold water, ring it out, and place it over your eyes. Another option is to reuse the teabag you just used in your hot tea, and run it under some cold water just before placing it on your eyes.
~ Apply slices of raw cucumber or raw potato to your eyes. If you’re at home, you can easily find a small potato to cut into. If you’re at a conference or salad bar at work, take a few slices of cucumber onto your plate when you’re getting a salad for lunch. Then bring those pieces into your office, hotel room, or bathroom, and sit back and relax for a few minutes of your own spa experience.
~ Gift yourself with more sleep in the cold months. It’s winter in my part of the world, and I’m letting myself sleep in later than I normally would. I believe that part of the winter process is about retreating into coziness for rejuvenation. I’m simply going along with the rhythms of nature, and you deserve extra sleep in the dark part of the year too.
