I was recently in conversation with a past client, and she was describing her current work situation. She’s in a physically demanding job, and it’s creating a lot of wear and tear on her body.
After she told me this, I said: “Instead of selling your body, you need to sell your intellectual property. Your body of work.”
We all have talents, knowledge, and ideas that can be packaged up, priced, and sold. For example, I have several bodies of work, including processes for Releasing Financial Constriction, as well as what I’m teaching in the upcoming Creating Financial Paradise™ Mastermind. You have a body of work too, and it’s a fun process to discover what yours contains.
As you ponder what your own body of work may be, I want you to also notice if you are currently selling your physical body in exchange for money.
You see, for years I worked as a landscaper, and I traded the strength of my body for money. There was a lot of beauty in landscaping, but it was also easy to overwork myself, and I was often close to the point of injury.
There are other ways that we sell our bodies, even in 
businesses that are not usually physically demanding. Selling your body happens when you stay up until 1am to finish a business project that your assistant could be working on instead of you.
Of course, if you currently have a physically demanding business or job, and you thrive on exchanging the power of your body for money, please continue. (Like I said, there was a part of me that loved being a landscaper. You may be a body worker or massage therapist, and if it feeds your soul, that’s fantastic!)
But if you are in a physically demanding job, and it is HURTING you (and you know in your heart that it does not fulfill your purpose in life), it is time to plan your escape.
It starts with discovering what your body of work is. After that, it’s all about packaging it up, and sharing it with the people who will most benefit from it.
