Recently, I completed a deep cleanse with juice and an herbal mixture. It’s a cleansing kit from Blessed Herbs that I’ve enjoyed several times over the past 7 years. This time, the goal was to go for a total of 8-9 days with liquids. The intention of this cleanse is to flush build-up from the intestines, which then allows you to absorb more nutrients. Many people also find other benefits through this process, like improved digestion, less bloating, clearer skin, and more energy.
I’d like to tell you how and why I ended the cleanse early.
On day 5, after a workday of clients, fresh juice and lots of water, I was ready to walk down into the heart of Olympia. I expected to spend an evening at one of the businesses in town, yet, when I walked into the building, it was hot and uncomfortably sauna-like. Normally I would have said to myself, “Your intention was to come here tonight. Now stick it out and stay. ” (It kind-of sounds like self-punishment, doesn’t it?)
Instead, I decided to go against my crafted plans and follow that inner voice that told me to spend a sunset evening in the park. The air was cool and comfortable outside, and as I stepped out of the building, I was hit with a huge whiff of Thai food, one of my favorite cuisines.
In one second, I made a choice to visit the restaurant nearby. I would end my fast by purchasing my favorite Thai snack, which are vegetarian fresh rolls with peanut dipping sauce.
At that point in my cleanse, I had a few different options. I could have gotten disappointed with myself for breaking my fast several days earlier than what I had scheduled. There is this idea that when those food cravings act up, you’re just around the corner from a big breakthrough. Some people say that you must stick with the fast in order to uncover that breakthrough. Perhaps I was avoiding this by eating food again.
The choice I did make was to enjoy the fresh rolls, and end the cleanse without being hard on myself. After all, my life bends to my itinerary, which can change in one second.
What happened next was 30 minutes of complete bliss on a park bench with this snack, as the town fountain sprinkled on little children who were playing in the water. My taste was heightened after being on neutral foods for so long, which meant that every flavor was enhanced. I want to recreate that experience every day, especially because a few more great things happened when I returned home. I had that powerful feeling of being absolutely cared for, especially in regards to my upcoming overseas travel. I can tell that many delicious meals will be given to me, and new friends will be made. An ideal client also signed up to work with me privately and submitted a payment.
Breaking the cleanse was well worth it.
