You see, I’ve eaten generic macaroni from the food bank….and have also lounged along the harbor of Monte Carlo, while watching billionaires and Italian models saunter by on their afternoon walks.

I spent much of my life using an outhouse, and taking bucket baths outside…and I’ve also traveled in a $6,000 first class seat from Athens, Greece, to the United States (along with many other first class flights).

As a business owner, I used to have moments of panic with less than a dollar in my bank account…and when everything began to shift, I started receiving checks for thousands of dollars at a time.

Shifts as big as these (and bigger) are available for you too.

As you start to imagine that, let me tell you a little more about the way I grew up, which was quite humble.

 

In my childhood, there was a lot of love, a lot of creativity, but not a lot of money.

We didn’t have indoor plumbing or hot water for many years, and I received assistance through charities that I am forever grateful for. Yet even though money was a struggle, I was given rides in privately owned planes, family friends would take me shopping to buy me whatever I wanted, and people I worked for as a teenager had $140,000 sports cars parked in their garages. I saw wealth from the eyes of a “poor girl,” and seeing this duality of wealth and poverty instilled an incredible drive in me from a very young age.

If I wanted “out” of poverty, it was up to me to make that happen.

 

I had always suspected that a service-based business was my ticket to a wealthier life, so I became an entrepreneur as a young adult, and officially settled into entrepreneurship not long after that.

 

Unfortunately, for some reason, my business was not creating a thriving income, even though I worked and worked, and had trained with the best in marketing and business building (my primary mentor at the time owns a multi-million dollar company).

 

I continued to struggle:

~ There were months where I only made $40, and my bank balance dipped below $1 several times.

~ Money put stress on my health (some days I would be so anxious that my body would tremble, and I just couldn’t calm down).

~ I would watch everyone else travel, and felt jealous and sad that I wasn’t making enough money to hop on a flight abroad.

~ I had to borrow money for rent a couple times. It was really embarrassing, and also stressful on the people I loved.

~ I went on food stamps for a year (pretty much kicking and screaming), so I could afford to eat and also continue to grow my business.

~ I didn’t trust money, because I hadn’t yet learned how to make money on demand.

~ I also questioned if I wanted to continue running my business….but my soul would not let me stop.

 

After several years of struggle, and deep exploration, I uncovered the problem:

I was running my business like a “Poor Girl,” instead of a “Wealthy Woman,” and this was a huge factor in my financial stress. (You may relate to some of this, too.)

~ I didn’t quite believe that I deserved a good income.

~ I was in the habit of living off of about $800 – $1200 a month, and because I was energetically at that level of income (and in the habit of earning that much), I would only ever earn the bare minimum through my business.

~ I thought that people I loved would abandon me if I started making more money than they did.

~ I would undercharge, and then people wouldn’t take my work seriously.

~ When I did feel brave enough to place a fair rate on my services, no one would buy, because deep down I didn’t believe that they would.

~ I would sometimes act cowardly around my prices. I even remember a moment when I nearly apologized for them (it was a pretty weak way to interact with money).

~ It was hard to ask for money, because I thought that I was making other people “poor” by “taking” their money.

~ I also wasn’t reaching out to have sales conversations, because I didn’t feel like people would find much value in what I offered.

 

I sometimes see other women entrepreneurs in a similar position, and in this place, their income slows.

This “Poor Girl” frame of mind influences the success of your business, the money you receive, and the way that you experience richness in your life. It’s a mindset that shows up if you feel that you are less worthy than other people, you feel financially poor, and are stressed each time you look at your bank account. It’s also easy to sink into this state of mind if you don’t give yourself the environment and resources that will support your happiness and your growing business.

 

As long as you feel like a “poor girl,” potential clients and opportunities will fall through your fingers, and it will be a struggle to create the money you’d love to have.

You also won’t be able to give yourself the luxurious experience of life (which I believe is the true reason that you are here).

 

 

Let me share a little more about the Poor Girl, and the Wealthy Woman ….

 

 

The Poor Girl

 

The Poor Girl has her sight set far ahead and she dreams of more for her life. She’s smart, driven, and talented, but creating money hasn’t always been easy.

The Poor Girl has often been responsible for taking care of her own needs, and in doing so, she became an excellent manifestor of “things.” She loves the magical moments where new clothes seems to fall in her lap, people gift her with exactly what she needs, and little surprises come to her at precisely the right time.

If you were to look at her life, it appears that her basic needs are met, and they pretty much are. She has a home, food, and she dresses well when she needs to. Even with all of this, her perception is one of “not enough,” and it continues to keep her in a cycle of financial insecurity.

There hasn’t always been a lot of money to support the Poor Girl, and to compensate for this appearance of lack, she developed talents and strengths that have been a huge asset in her life. She’s a high achiever, takes pride in details, and sometimes even gets a little too carried away with perfecting what she’s working on. She’ll push herself. It’s gotten her quite far, but it’s also exhausting, and she can’t work this way forever.

With this feeling of lack inside her, she developed a few habits that tend to repel money, without her even realizing it. She tries to get a lot of things for free, like free massages, and freebies from other businesses. She attends free training programs from a ton of different business mentors, which only leave her confused. She has been running around in circles, trying to do everything.

The Poor Girl feels like there is no net to catch her if she falls. She doesn’t have a lot of trust in the abilities of other people, and will try to do everything herself. The Poor Girl is hesitant to hire people to help, for fear that she won’t be able to afford it. She’s shouldering the work of a small team ~ answering all of her business emails, cleaning the toilet in the middle of her workday, and trying to figure out how to do her book-keeping on her own. She even skipped a year of doing her taxes, which has energetically backed up her financial flow.

To a certain extent, the Poor Girl can manifest money, though it’s been a struggle to create a consistent income through the business she’s building. Money feels like more of a worry to her than it is a pleasure. She gets flustered when bills come in the mail, and will have emotional breakdowns when unexpected expenses show up. She may still have some side employment that pays the rent and funds her business, but it’s just a placeholder job, and she’s ready for more.

She is ready for a richer life.

 

 

The Wealthy Woman

 

The Wealthy Woman is here to make a difference in many lives. She has found her calling, and said yes to it, over and over again.

Along the way, there were many times when she wondered if her dreams could come true, if it was all possible, and if she’d be able to afford it all.

Then she learned about Universal truths, which insure her success. Ever since then, she has lived in a state of trust, and knows that her dreams are meant to come true.

She is now more connected to her own magic than ever before. Happy opportunities seem to fall into her lap. She creates a delicious life every day, and it keeps getting better and better. As she connects to this magic, money begins to flood to her, and happy clients come forward with readiness. She feels rich, she feels successful, and lives a life of incredible joy.

Her idea of rich doesn’t look like the stereotypes. It doesn’t necessarily include mansions or sports cars, though it may (or she borrows these every now and then.) She may be living in a home she’s wanted to own since she was very young, and every time she steps inside it, she laughs with contentment. She may be on silent retreats in the shimmering country sides of India, or enamored with roadside restaurants in Vietnam, which from the outside may look like beaten up shacks.

She defined riches for herself.

In the process, she stepped into a delicious life that gives her everything she’s ever wanted.

And making money feels like bliss.

If creating money was once hard for her, it now feels easy. She’s just not worried about it now, and dollars and euros no longer hold the emotional charge that they once did. She has tapped into the bank of the Universe, and can create income on demand. If her funds ever feel a touch low, she doesn’t let it debilitate her. She knows how to create more money whenever she needs it, and she does. In the process, she changes lives.

She appreciates how her free-flowing income can be circulated toward businesses she believes in. With this money, she happily books trips to day spas, has a housecleaner whenever she needs one, and pays for financial guidance so her money can continue to grow. Her income gives her plane tickets, trips abroad, and the opportunity to share the gift of travel with people she loves. The Wealthy Woman also happily pays for quiet afternoons in restaurants, and finds that in that peaceful stillness, new ideas come to her. She hires professionals who take care of her website, support her customers, and who look after aspects of her business that she’s not particularly suited for. She is immensely grateful for the gifts that her wealth brings her.

To grow, she continues to invest in herself and her business. The Wealthy Woman lets intuition lead her to every opportunity that feels right, and she doesn’t care if other people judge her for her purchases. Her heightened intuition has led her to clients, mentors, and the many wonderful opportunities that support her business.

The Wealthy Woman is not tethered to a million possessions, since it is the experience of life that she will always appreciate and carry with her. She is very content with what she owns, and often likes to lighten the load by letting go of physical possessions that no longer match who she has grown into. It makes room for more riches.

At the same time, she enjoys gliding her hands over silky fabrics while searching for new clothes to adorn her body. She feels gorgeous walking into a Chanel boutique, and equally delights in looking for wardrobe treasures at thrift shops. She adores original artwork that inspires her, and if her intuition says “yes” to owning it, the price does not matter.

The Wealthy Woman also has absolute respect for her body and loves the sultry feeling of being comfortable in her own skin. This self-respect is visible in the way that she walks. The glow that comes through her is accentuated every time she bites into organic fruit and whenever she chooses the food that will nourish her physical body and her taste for fun. She’s not afraid to eat a 3-course meal, indulge in an afternoon hot chocolate, or to let her fine taste guide her.

The Wealthy Woman surrounds herself with the most delightful circle of people she knows, and is completely nourished by a day of laughter with them. She is selective about who she keeps company with, and has found a way to lovingly withdraw her energy from those who no longer fit, while bringing in friends and colleagues who are a delight to be with.

If the Wealthy Woman has a family, they play a huge role in her life, and it is her greatest joy to snuggle with them when she’s not running her business.

If she is thinking about having a family, she’s already setting up her life and mindset in a way that will greatly support her future children and her spouse.

BUT WAIT, THERE’S MORE! During all of this, Tex had called my parents to see if we could borrow the money from them. When I started the Poor Girl’s Guide to Riches Group, I was sure all my blocks around wealth were purely to do with my business. I felt guilty about spending money on myself and my business, I was uncomfortable speaking about money, and felt restricted when it came to getting new clients.

Soon it became clear that I had a number of beliefs that were blocking my wealth consciousness in general. Some of these went back to childhood and some were the result of giving up my job to spend more time with my family – I no longer felt like I had my own money, and I’d earned my money since I was 14!
