I watched Anthony Bourdain’s new show, The Layover, before bed last night. I’ve been watching less TV, but made time for 2 episodes: Rome, and New York. Both of them bring back lovely memories, although I did get food poisoning in Rome, which didn’t allow me to appreciate the city very much. Traveling through Rome has never been easy, with the heat and stomachaches that I have gotten there twice, but I would still go back and search for authentic outdoor dining. It’s funny how we can have a difficult time somewhere, yet we can still see the beauty in the place we were at. The sunsets in Rome stunned me. I’m not a coffee person, but I just realized that I never even tried a cappuccino there. Isn’t that a requirement in Italy?

A gorgeous Roman sunset

Speaking of stomachaches, my own stomach hasn’t felt well for about a week now, and it made me cringe this morning to the point where I could barely eat. It was time for a break from food. At 4pm, when my body finally ached to eat, it was an amazing eating experience. I practically gulped the noodle soup in broth that I created in 10 minutes on the stove top. Tortilla chips with melted goat cheddar and a sprinkling of chipotle spice mix is satisfying like a grilled cheese sandwich. Mmmmmm…….

I’m now taking my second dinner break in the middle of a full day of client calls. There are so many new and awesome songs that I didn’t knew I had on my music list. And this Earl Grey tea is amazing and soothing. I’ve gotten interested in Earl Grey over the past year, after 20 years of ignoring it. Now, it’s my sophisticated tea, and it reminds me that we can create whatever we want out of nothing (just like Star Trek, The Next Generation).

Mostly, I just feel this big sigh of relief as I sink into my cozy bed with my food on the table to my left. My night is so content. I am enjoying this silence, and the inspiring thoughts developing in my mind.
